This program has been specifically designed for couples. However, the program will also be of great benefit to single parents with children.
This document is intended as a guide only. The examples outlined within are provided to stimulate thoughts and ideas that might help you to design a Life Plan that will suit you and your family’s specific needs.
Your workshop facilitator will be working with you to assist you to decide on a number of key elements in your life that may influence the way in which you want to plan for the future.
As most families have either one or both adults working, either as an employee or self employed this workbook and the workshop program allows you the time to conceive, develop, plan, implement and successfully operate either the business of your dreams or to find a job and position you will enjoy.
The underlying key to the success of any plan is your passion and unquestionable desire for it to succeed. This is a mindset and you need to devote a significant amount of time each day to make it happen.
You have made the first and most critical step towards your dreams coming true. Planning!
Lets make it happen.
A strong family begins with a strong relationship with your partner. When couples invest the time and energy to plan for their family and business prospects the result isn't just a ‘family plan’.
More importantly they improve their communication, net worth, increase their intimacy as a couple, and strengthen the bond with their children and their relationship. The following introduction will show you how to begin developing your own ‘family and business plan’ and maximize the success of your personal, business and family pursuits.
Both successful and average people these days seem to have very busy lives, but in many different ways. Everyone must work extra hard these days for their relationships and businesses to survive. Getting the life balance mix right is more difficult than most people think. The percentage of unsuccessful marriages is ever increasing due to the fact, I feel, that most people are not mentally and physically equipped to cope with the speed of life currently being experienced. Due to free trade, the unrelenting impact of commercialisation, endless technological and scientific breakthroughs, that we all seem to take for granted, the impact and stress on relationships, our business life and the outlook for many children is looking very bleak if we do not equip ourselves personally with the mindset, systems and procedures that are essential ingredients for success. |
Deep down inside we know what has to be done. There is nothing very new about planning, systems development, procedural planning, commitment, drive and ambition. What is new is the commitment NOW by you to make a change that will benefit YOUR life forever.
If you stick religiously to the plan, keep revisiting and modifying the plan to suit ever changing circumstances, and commit the time to make it happen, you will succeed.
What most people don’t realise is that stress, chaos, change and complexity are an essential part of life. It’s the constant change that creates opportunity. When equipped with drive, ambition, a will to succeed and life skills (not necessarily just education), you will be able to: firstly, identify the opportunity; secondly, know how to exploit the opportunity; and thirdly, potentially create wealth and prosperity due to this unique opportunity. This workbook will help to equip you and your family in this regard.
As outlined beforehand, due to the fact we are all very busy, preoccupied and normally tired, this workbook and the workshop you are attending are designed to help stimulate your thought process and commit you to documenting what we know will be a life changing plan for the future.
During the workshop sessions you will find that there will literally be hundreds of ideas flowing from both of you. The aim is not to try to finalise your life plan during the workshop. This is purely the incubator for ideas and strategies to flow. Take rough notes – lots of them.
Set a date to get away for a day, weekend or holiday to talk, plan and document your first draft ‘life plan’. Once a draft has been completed, carefully consider which activities should be placed in the short, medium or longer term pages of your family plan. Be realistic.
Ensure you both have total ‘buy-in’ to the plan.
Being willing to adjust the plan constantly is the key to success. Allow ‘the cards to fall’ every which way and then be willing to adjust your dreams, plans and actions to suit the revised plan that unfolds. It’s inevitable this will happen. If you don’t allow for change expect conflict and potentially, failure.
Be willing at all stages of the implementation of your plans to continually move outside your comfort zone. Encourage all members of your family to do so.
Constantly strive to develop new life skills. Read, question things, listen, and take an interest in local or state activities. Develop a new ‘energy’. Think positively, act decisively, do it now, write what you can’t say, be at peace with yourself, the ones you love and the human race.
A key but simple ‘system for success’ is for you to use a ‘day book’ and separate diary.
You may wish to use a ‘day book’ to write down any thoughts and ideas that come to mind during this and future ‘Life Plan’ workshops.
The following pages guide you on how to read and use this ‘Life Plan’ guide.
Continually use this workbook in future years to stimulate thoughts and new ideas.
Lets make it happen.
